Reactions and this week's new releases are to be found, as ever, after the jump

1. Another fairly dull week I think it's fair to say in the old top ten. Roll Deep hang on for a second week whilst people indicate that they really know what's good for themselves by continuing to by Usher and Plan B.

2. Pendulum win the "where the hell did that come from?!" new entry of the week. It's pretty much like everything else you've heard from them, but a little better. Propane Nightmares is properly brilliant, but Watercolour is very much on the "alright" scale of things.

3. Aggro Santos and Kimberley Wyatt storm into the top 5 with a song which would be infinitely catchier and better is Kimberley was left to go it alone. There's a bit in the video where both La Roux and the lead singer of Aqua have a legitimate copywrite claim againsts Kimbo's haircut. Be warned.

Looking ahead to next week, then, the big thing to comment on is Christina Aguilera who chickened out of releasing Not Myself Tonight last week. I don't think it's going to make much difference. Indeed, as of the current count, it's not even all that likely to make the top 10.

Estelle is giving it another go with "Freak". She seems to think that sampling Soul 2 Soul's "Back 2 Life" is going to help things. To be fair, it's not a bad effort but it just doesn't have that magic of "American Boy" and she probably won't be troubling the top ten. Which is perhaps a shame, given that there's clearly a lot to give here.

Keane are back and are bringing along K'Naan as they launch their "Night Train" EP which looks like it will hit number 1 on the albums chart this weekend. "Stop For A Minute" doesn't have the immediate appeal of Everybody Changes for example, but it's nonetheless an enjoyable vocal performance with a sound which suggests that Keane have wisely dialled things back from the "Under The Iron Sea" fiasco.

Our top pick for the week ahead, which looks almost destined to follow the likes of Sophie Ellis-Bextor and Banarama in so far as they're hand-picked by The Pop Web for greatness only to fail to trouble the top 20 (or, indeed 40), is Mini Viva's "One Touch". We didn't really *get* the whole "Tokyo" malarkey but this is a solid pop romp with an amazing beat and the whole thing is very clubbable. Are we the only ones who think the production has a nod to "Dance Wiv Me" also? Either way, the whole thing is brilliant and Mini Viva could certainly do with a solid chart showing for this because there's a lot of potential there, which is in real danger of being spurned by the record buying public.
